SATIRE TO ME
I believe that in today's society satire is just another form of expressing yourself and the views you may have on something. It provides a light-hearted way to address an issue, without directly insulting someone. Satire also forces people to think about the message that is being portrayed in that given piece of satire. I like how many different pieces of satire can be taken in different ways depending on how a given individual interprets what the artist or writer is trying to say. Satire could also be classified as comedy, because almost all the time pieces of satire will make one laugh. If satire is done correctly it will address an issue without being overly insulting. There are sometimes when I believe people take satire to far and it becomes just rude, which is not what satire is meant to do. As long as satires main goal is to address an issue and not just be rude, then I think it is a great thing.

Children's Book Satire
This illustration show satire in many ways. First off by the way Obama is portrayed with characterisitcs that are normally associated with african Americans. He has very large ears, a large nose and big lips that make it so you know he is african American. The artist of this illustration also makes fun of the fact that Obama is lying to the adults in America and just telling them what they want to hear. It is also infuring that Obama is now going to try and fool the children of America into thinking he is some great man. The child looks as though he is almost scared of Obama and his strange antics. This could make some poeple believe they should be scared of Obama and question his motivates behind his decisions. This is a perfect example of satire, because in reality it is satirizing multiple things but it a way that one would have to really think about in order to understand them all. This illustration is funny and does a good job at never dirextly saying Obama's name, but making it known that it is in fact him.

Obama Satire
http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/borowitzreport/2013/01/obama-urged-to-resign-over-beyonc-scandal.html#entry-more
This article written byAndy Borowitz shows satire by making fun of the fact that people will go to great lengths in order to blame president Obama for anything that goes wrong. When Borowitz says that Obama must leave office due to Beyonce's lip singing scandal, which really if not Obama's fault what so ever, it makes people realize how much Obama gets blamed for things that he has no control of. It also shows how many people will become superstitious about things, such as lip singing scandal and think that will effect Obama's presidency, which is ridiculous. This given article also shows satire when Hilary Clinton is brought up and the fact that since she answered every question about this incident she must of been trying to fool someone. This is satirizing how Americans do not trust anyone in office, even someone who is answering every question he/she is being asked. This given piece of satire does a great job at making fun of how people think about Obama and politicians in general but doing it in a way that is not directly hurtful to anyone.White and Nerdy Satire
"White & Nerdy"
This song by Weird Al Yankovic shows satire by making fun of the fact that all these so called gangsters think they are so cool and unstoppable, but in reality they are the complete opposite of that. He talks about how he wants to hang out with the cool gangsters, but his appearance makes that impossible. This shows how many people think that gangsters have to be a certain way and cannot spend their weekends at the Renaissance fair as Weird Al does. This song satirizes gangsters in close to every aspect of their life. It talks about how you need a certain car in order to be a gangster and how people will simply roll their eyes at you if you are just white and nerdy looking. Overall this song shows satire by adding humor to the thought of gangsters and how they should be.
Immigration Satire
New Jersey Satire
This clip from a South Park episode fits perfectly into satire, because it making fun of the hit show Jersey Shore and the people of New Jersey. The funny part about the whole video is the fact that how these people are acting is a spitting image of how the people on the Jersey Shore act. The skit does a good job at showcasing the stereotypical resident of New Jersey and the characteristics they seem to all have. Some of which are their thick accents and the fact that they are willing to fight for really no apparent reason. This makes the cast of the Jersey Shore look stupid along with the people of New Jersey. Skits like this make people believe that everyone in New Jersey acts as irrationally as they tan and tattooed people in the skit. I believe this skit shows satire because it pokes fun at the people of New Jersey and the show that so many people associate New Jersey with, but in a funny way without being overly harsh.
